1. The site is information, not advice

Everything on this site is general information only. It is not medical, legal, financial, engineering, trade, safety or emergency advice, it is not reviewed by professionals in those fields, and it is no substitute for training, professional advice, or the instructions of emergency services.

2. Permission to use the site

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, revocable licence to access the site and to view, download and print our content for your own personal, non-commercial use.

3. Our content

Unless we say otherwise, all content on the site — text, images, layout, graphics, logos and code — is owned by us or licensed to us, and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. “The Survival Guru” and our logo are our trade marks.

You must not, without our written permission:

• republish, redistribute or syndicate our content, in whole or in substantial part
• sell, licence or otherwise commercialise our content
• present our content as your own, or remove or obscure attribution
• use our content, or any part of the site, to train or fine-tune machine learning or generative AI models, or to build a derivative dataset or product
• systematically scrape, crawl, harvest, mirror or bulk-download the site, or use automated tools to do so, beyond ordinary search engine indexing

You may quote short extracts with attribution and a link back to the original article, and you are welcome to link to any page on the site.

Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the fair dealing provisions of the Copyright Act 1968 (Cth).

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use the site for any unlawful purpose, or in breach of these terms
• interfere with, disrupt, overload or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site, its servers, or any connected network or system
• probe, scan or test the vulnerability of the site, or breach or circumvent any security or authentication measure
• introduce any virus, malware or other harmful code
• misrepresent your identity or affiliation, or impersonate us
• collect personal information about other users

5. Material you send us

If you send us feedback, corrections, suggestions or other material, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, worldwide licence to use, reproduce, adapt and publish it in connection with the site, without payment or attribution. You confirm you have the right to give us that licence, and that the material is not unlawful, defamatory, confidential or in breach of anyone else’s rights.

We are not obliged to publish, use, keep confidential or respond to anything you send us. Please do not send us confidential information or sensitive personal or health information.

6. Third-party links and services

The site links to third-party websites, including government, emergency service, health and product pages. Those sites are not under our control. We provide the links for convenience and information only, and a link is not an endorsement or a guarantee of accuracy, safety or availability. Your use of a third-party site is governed by that site’s own terms and privacy policy, and is at your own risk.

7. Availability and changes

We may change, suspend, restrict or discontinue any part of the site at any time without notice, and we may edit, update, unpublish or remove any content. We do not promise that the site will be available without interruption or error, or that it will be free of viruses or other harmful components.

We may amend these terms at any time by publishing an updated version on this page. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the amended terms.

8. No warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the site and its content are provided “as is” and “as available”, and we make no representation or warranty of any kind, express or implied, about their accuracy, completeness, reliability, currency, suitability, safety or fitness for any purpose.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

• you use the site and act on its content at your own risk
• we exclude all liability for any loss, damage, injury, illness, death, cost or expense — direct or indirect, and however caused, including by our negligence — arising out of or in connection with your use of, or reliance on, the site, its content, or any site we link to
• we exclude all liability for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, and for any loss of profit, revenue, data or goodwill

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2 to the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth)) or any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded. Where our liability cannot be excluded but can be limited, our liability is limited, at our option, to supplying the relevant content or services again, or paying the cost of having them supplied again.

10. Indemnity

You indemnify us against any claim, loss, damage, cost or expense (including reasonable legal costs) we suffer arising out of your breach of these terms, your unlawful use of the site, or your infringement of any third party’s rights.

11. Privacy

Our handling of personal information is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the site at any time, without notice, if we reasonably believe you have breached these terms. Clauses 3, 5, 8, 9 and 10 survive termination.

13. General

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, and you submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that jurisdiction and the courts of appeal from them.

If any provision of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, it is severed and the remaining provisions continue to apply. A failure by us to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.

These terms, together with our Disclaimer and Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between us about your use of the site.
